Last Friday, our first grade students performed their annual Flag Day Show for friends and family. It was a patriotic celebration where students sang, danced, rang handbells, recited poems, and shared all they have learned about the American Flag.
Field Day 2026 was a huge success yesterday! Students in grades K-4 participated in all sorts of fun team activities. Students had the chance to dance, draw with chalk, do relay races, play matt ball, run water cup relays, tug-a-war...and have popsicles! It was a perfect day for team-building and fun!
Recently our preschoolers had their annual Fairy Tale Ball. This celebration culminated preschool's study of fairy tales and characters!
Recently, HCS second graders went on a field trip to visit various important buildings in town. Students explored the Old Meeting House, Town Hall (former Hampstead High School), The Old Shoe Shop, Hampstead Historical Society Museum, and Josie's Ice Cream (former District #3 Schoolhouse). Students learned many fun facts about Hampstead's history. Many community volunteers from the Hampstead Historical Society took time to educate our second graders and they truly enjoyed learning about their community. Students even got to enjoy a delicious ice cream treat on their field trip! Thank you to all the Hampstead community members who made this field trip so special for our second graders!
Last week, our 3rd and 4th-graders stepped into the roles of engineers and programmers through hands-on learning with the TI-Innovator™ Rover. This exciting, robotic vehicle brought abstract math and science concepts to life by allowing students to write code and watch their programs physically move the Rover across the classroom. Through these interactive challenges, students developed foundational computer science skills—such as coding paths, understanding variables, and debugging errors—alongside critical geometric concepts like calculating distances and measuring angles. Beyond the technical know-how, Rover challenges were designed to foster collaboration, resilient problem-solving, and critical thinking as students worked in teams to navigate obstacles. We were thrilled to see their confidence grow as they transformed from passive consumers of technology into active creators and innovators! Thank you to the Hampstead Education Foundation for partially funding this important educational program!
The Hampstead Girls on the Run Team helped weed and plant in the community gardens recently. They all did a great job!
This weekend, the memory of Mr. T was honored with a dedication at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Thank you Ms. Burkett and the team at the Wildlife Refuge for their collaboration and support.

Students in Grade 4 took a field trip to the New Hampshire Water Festival and learned about this precious resource. HCS had two students placing second and third in the state poetry contest that had over 200 entries. Congratulations to Annabelle and Nick!
This past week HCS students had the chance to visit the Soil Tent to learn about life just below our feet. It was a fascinating experience which students really enjoyed. Students were able to learn about the many natural items and living creatures that live in our native soil. Thank you to Mrs. Wisecarver for organizing this outstanding learning opportunity!

Last week our fourth graders presented their global exploration of countries and cultures with their annual Gr 4 Multicultural Show! The show featured the music, art, culture, and dance from different countries including: Peru, Mexico, Germany, Malaysia, and Nigeria. It was an excellent performance! Included were digital country projects and outstanding representative background paintings showcasing the five countries. Bravo fourth graders!
Last week our second graders went on a bowling field trip! Fun was had by all!

Last Thursday, HCS celebrated the conclusion of this year's One School, One Book,"Felix Powell, Boy Dog." The evening featured many family-friendly activities connected to the story. Families could participate in crafts, meet our district therapy dogs, play games, design a tiny animal shelter, try a sniffing skills test, see a police dog demonstration, make a blanket for a shelter dog, and more. There were many opportunities for families to engage with our school-wide read in a fun and memorable way.
Last week, our third graders hosted a lively Motown concert featuring classic Motown favorites. The concert was a celebration of student learning and growth. The energy in the room was fantastic and students truly shined as they confidently celebrated Motown through music, technology, and art. Kudos to Mrs. Starck, Mrs. Shaw, and Mrs. McLaughlin. Bravo Gr 3- well done!
Mrs. Gordon's Gr 2 class read about how people express themselves through listening to music so students created recycled musical instruments and played them in a concert with Mrs. Starck in music class. So much musical fun!
Recently, our third graders started their Colonial America unit in Social Studies. Putting their learning into action, Gr 3 visited Strawberry Banke in Portsmouth where they toured colonial-era buildings and learned about colonial life including, homelife, games, architecture, tools, cooking, and chores! It was an informative, interactive visit!
Recently HCS celebrated Read Across America! This was a fun, creative way to incorporate daily reading and enjoy books together. Students loved the opportunity to read creatively, read together, read with stuffed animals, and read in different places!
